Javad K. Hassan is the founder and chairman of NeST Group, a global conglomerate of more than 25 companies spread across
several continents. Under the leadership of Mr. Hassan, NeST Group has become a worldwide leader in technology, with
operations in India, the Middle East, Japan, Europe and the Americas. It has more than 4,000 employees, and has products
and technologies in a whole range of areas, including health care, green energy and wireless and fiber optics communication
Mr Hassan came to the United States after receiving his BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Kerala, India.
After completing his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a master’s in material science and engineering from the
University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1968, he passed an opportunity to pursue a PhD at MIT, and instead joined IBM.
In 10 years, he became the head of the company’s semi-conductor development operations, which consisted of more than 2,000
engineers and scientists. During this period, he obtained more than 20 patents in semi-conductor technology for his
IEEE, the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence, honored
him by conferring its prestigious Fellow status for his extraordinary accomplishments. Later on, he held the position of
corporate head of engineering and technology at IBM’s world headquarters in New York and also headed its storage business,
which was worth $6 billion.
Mr. Hassan joined AMP Inc, another Fortune 100 firm and the world’s largest electronic components/connector maker,
as its corporate head of technology, in 1988. In his 10-year career with AMP, he diversified it into fiber-optics and
wireless technologies and helped it grow into a more than $1.5 billion business. He retired from AMP as president of Global
Inter Connect Systems business in 1998 to start his career as entrepreneur in his own right.
